The Dunes in Truro
A girl walks up the dunes with the aid of a cane, trying not to get sand in her heart. All around her, very beautifully, houses fall in the ocean and disappear. At least one thing is being prevented. The creeping mountains reconstitute. They are moving in some direction. It is like surfing, but very slowly. William Harvey discovered the circulatory system in 1616. It must therefore be concluded, he wrote, that the blood in the animal body moves around in a circle continously, and that the action of function of the heart is to accomplish this by pumping. This is the only reason for the motion and beat of the heart.
